Remarks & Notes

There are still pieces of history out there. An old Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railroad work car sits a storage shed for spare parts on United Taconite property. Built in 1903 as D&IR 5180 it eventually became DM&IR W-5180 as a supply tool car before being retired in March 1975 because of a "deteriorated condition that has caused critical structural weaknesses".
