Remarks & Notes

Reading Railroad Alco FA-1 #303A and RS-3 #519 doing pusher service on an eastbound iron ore train. As was the practice with most of the first-generation road diesels, Reading's FA's became candidates for retirement and trade-in after fifteen-years of service. In 1963 the bulk of the fleet went to Alco as trade-in for C-424. 35mm slide taken from my collection. Photographer Rich Short.
