Because of the last-minute cancellation of an event in western Massachusetts, the Pan Am Railways OCS overnighted in East Deerfield Thursday night. The next morning, the classy train began its deadhead back east to home base in Waterville, Maine. It is seen here passing the former Boston & Maine Ayer tower, slowing for a stop at the MBTA Ayer station to drop off a few passengers.
