Remarks & Notes
Four rail track? Multi gauge track? This probably unique in the world, parallel execution of two meter gauge tracks at a distance of only 30 cm is located in the 180 degree panoramic horseshoe curve in Alp Grüm. It is evident, that no rail vehicles can meet each other here. In 2006, when the crossing tracks in Alp Grüm should be extended, the subsequent switch would have been lie in the middle of the narrow 45 m radius curve, where it would have been exposed to the strong winds very much and thus the risk of icing (despite switch heating). It was decided to place this switch below the curve on straight track, where it is also much better protected from the elements by the slope and a few trees. In the background 3049 m high Piz dal Teo.
