The daily ritual... Idling in the siding at Nitro, northbound NS 381 has completed its yard work at Nitro and is ready to depart to the north. NS 380, led by a Union Pacific ES44AC eases by its northbound counterpart as it prepares to release its track authority north of Nitro. Due to call times out of each terminal and the mileage between the two locations, Nitro serves as a common meeting point in which both trains meet each day. Despite its direct access to Columbus, Ohio, the original NYC line has very little rail traffic and the two trains pictured above represent the only daily traffic that is scheduled.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
