The passage of a steam locomotive startles a local crow to the betterment of my composition! Many towns and villages on the Settle and Carlisle route once boasted stations though several did not survive economic purges inflicted over the years. One such was Long Marton, though happily it has been sympathetically restored as a private residence, making a satisfying backdrop to the southbound 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'.
