Remarks & Notes
It's Race Week at Cheltenham, one of the biggest events in the horse racing world, with tens of thousands of race fans descending on the area. The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway runs several special trains during this period - such as this one.The 10.50 Toddington to Cheltenham Racecourse passes Hailes,a few minutes into its journey. The loco is a preserved "Prairie" tank.Designed by Collett and built at Swindon in 1928,the loco was withdrawn in December 1961.She languished at Barry scrapyard until 1975,and then underwent a lengthy overhaul, eventually being steamed in 2002,for the first time in over 40 years.
