Remarks & Notes
Double-ended Tait motor 470M pokes out of the door on 3 Road at the Newport Workshops during the Steamrail Victoria open day 2014. This was one of four Tait cars modified with a second cab at the rear for one car operation during the late 60's, for use on the Camberwell-Alamein, Newport-Altona and Eltham-Hurstbridge shuttles. This car was superbly restored a number of years ago, but is sadly still awaiting its return to mainline tours as heritage electric trains have not been permitted to operate in Melbourne since 2004.
