Remarks & Notes
A pair of L class English Electric locomotives rest side by side at Newport Workshops. L1162 (on the left) was restored to operating condition by Elecrail volunteers in 2004, including a stunning repaint into the Victorian Railways blue and gold livery. Sadly that same year it became no longer possible to run heritage electric trains in Melbourne, and 1162 has now spent 10 years awaiting her return to service. During this time the loco has been vandalised, and when the operating issues are finally resolved this loco will most likely need another repaint. On the right is unrestored L1160 in V/line livery.
