Sunrise over Scales. Pre-dawn snow showers give way to clearing skies over Nevada's Comstock Region, as a V&T Freight winds its way north over the "crookedest shortline in America."

The V&T's Virginia City Branch was indeed called the "crookedest shortline in America." In the course of the 21 mile run from Carson City to Virginia City, there were enough degrees of curvature to make 17 complete circles!
