"Whose Railroad Is It Anyway?" The months following the Conrail split were certainly interesting. New traffic patterns had yet to develop and there were many extra trains and odd locomotive consists. Conrail train symbols remained in use on both CSX and NS for a short while, and this Selkirk, NY to Camden, NJ job was still referred to as "SECA". This train would eventually become Q417, and it is still operating as of 2014. The locomotive consist was certainly unusual, having a mixture of CSX (Conrail blue) and NS high hood power. Since this is now the CSX River Subdivision, NS power would not be common. For a short time the Susquehanna engine facility was tasked with servicing the power from various CSX intermodal trains and the service track was often overloaded with power. On this day a BNSF Dash 8-40BW mingles with some former Conrail units, adding a bit of color.
