A Los Angeles-bound Pacific Surfliner arrives in Fullerton, behind NPCU 90208 (ex-F40PH 208). Power for this train, shoving on the rear, is F59PHI 460. This is one of two train sets on the Surfliner route that consists of older Amfleet and Horizon Fleet cars, rather than the typical Alstom-built high-level cars normally seen on these trains. Note the group of Mennonites on the pedestrian overpass. The Mennonites will be boarding Amtrak #4, the Southwest Chief, when it arrives in about two hours.
Stretching from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, the Surf Line has become Amtrak's second busiest route. See the Pacific Surfliner and San Diegan in action along with trains from predecessors Santa Fe and Southern Pacific.
