I found this old slide taken by my friend David DeVault. It's the color version of a unit I also photographed (in black and white) that same summer: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=362630&nseq=0 The 756 was the last of L&N's Es to wear the blue and cream paint scheme---although the finish was obviously nearly worn off at this late date. The engine was repainted the following year in gray and yellow. The older paint scheme was done in lacquer paint, which dried quickly (good for multi-color schemes such as this), but didn't hold up as well as slower-drying enamel.
