SY 1772 leads a special passenger train across the Wang River Middle Bridge on the Tiefa Coal Railway. This railway one of the last railways in China to feature steam on passenger trains is located in Manchuria, close to the city of Shenyang. SY 1772, is one of the most notable engines in the Tiefa locomotive roster as it is the LAST commrcially built steam locomotive in the world. This SY 2-8-2 rolled out of the Tangshan Locomotive Factory in October 1999, nearly 46 years after steam locomotive production ceased in the United States. Fortunately, this locomotive is still in steam in 2014, at the young age of 15 years old!
