Remarks & Notes
Chicago Burlington & Quincy E-5A Silver Pilot was built in 1940 by Electromotive Corporation (EMC). About 1955 the Silver Pilot was acquired by the Fort Worth and Denver railroad. Shortly thereafter she was acquired by the Colorado and Southern railroad locomotive and was lettered as the Texas Zephyr, She was sold for scrap in 1968 and was subsequently acquired by the Illinois Railway Museum to power the museum's Nebraska Zephyr articulated trainset. This image shows Silver Pilot coupled to the Nebraska Zephyr trainset as she makes a run on the IRM mainline.
