Remarks & Notes
A bloody nose for a bloody nose. Amtrak F7A No. 104 (formerly BN 9780; originally NP 6511A) went to early retirement after hitting a truck loaded with 1300 turkeys in northwestern Minnesota on Amtrak's Empire Builder in October 1973. This shot was taken at Harrison St., Minneapolis not long after the incident with feathers still frozen to the nose. The unit was retired, moved to Dale St., St. Paul for storage and later traded to EMD for new Amtrak power. It was still in storage in St. Paul in early 1975.
