Steam, Sun and Snow. The 7th, and possibly last annual "Steam in the Snow" excursion on the Conway Scenic Railroad delivered hefty doses of all three elements as it wound its way from the Notchland Inn up in Hart's Location, to the historic North Conway Depot, on the afternoon of January 4th, 2014. Here, we see the former Grand Trunk/Canadian National Switcher pouring out plumes of steam in the frigid air as she charges toward the Route 302 underpass known as Cook's Crossing, in the town of Bartlett, New Hampshire.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
