Kicking up the heels Now that winter’s icy grip has arrived, another scene from this past autumn feels a bit nicer and warmer. On October 2, 2013, at Frog Pond west of Trout Creek, Montana, it’s time to kick back with a brew and warm up the old feet while keeping an eye on the fishing rod during the end of a relaxing day along Montana Rail Link’s Fourth Subdivision. This is the third train to pass our shoreline campfire and the afternoon is winding down. Now the fire is bigger and warmer, I had caught two trout, and the bottle is now empty… as BNSF grain shuttle XKALCVN rumbles by and acknowledges the pleasant-looking fire with an airhorn salute. Happy New Year, everyone!
