CSX 8522 began it's career with the Seaboard System in January of 1983. At nearly 31 years old, CSX 8522 sits outside the CSX Locomotive Shop in Selkirk with a variety of power. BNSF 7488 can also be seen in the background. It was in the lead of the K041 on December 6, 2013 when it struck a car carrier at a grade crossing in West Nyack, NJ. The impact resulted in a the car carrier bursting into flames causing the fire damage as seen on the cab. The truck driver sustained serious injuries, while the crew was unharmed.
