Test train of the recently repaired 140C38.
This locomotive was the last standard gauge steam engine in regular service in France. By going out of service in November 1975 in Chalindrey, it closed the mainline steam era in France.
After 38 years, two test trains on November 9 and December 14 marked its return to operation, thanks to the good care of the C.F.T.L.P., Chemin de Fer Touristique Limousin - Périgord. See here: http://www.trainvapeur.com/. Unfortunately the tender had a hot box on both occasions. |
