As the sun begins to set, an hour and a half late east Amtrak Cardinal rolls into Charlottesville, Va., as it crosses the diamond with Norfolk Southern's Piedmont Division along the rails of the former C&O. The train will make a quick stop here, then proceed toward Washington DC.
