The fill that washed out Thick fog is lifting off of the Flatirons west of Plainview, Colorado, as Amtrak’s No. 5, the California Zephyr, climbs the Front Range of the Rockies on the morning on May 30, 2011. The train is exiting Tunnel 2, passing over a fill and through a cut, and is about to enter Tunnel 3. This particular fill that the rear of the train is crossing is the one that washed out and closed the Moffat Subdivision for a month this past September (2013) in the devastating Colorado floods.
