The Lake State Railway quietly unveiled its new corporate scheme on December 5, when a former CITX SD40-2 that the company purchased recently was rolled out in the modernized lightning stripe image. If anyone remembers my Great Lakes Eastern Railroad (GLE - HO Scale) paint scheme, this should look quite familiar. I was consulted to develop the new paint scheme that will be applied to the several SD40-2s and all units that are in need of painting on the Lake State Railway. The scheme is an adaptation of the model railroad scheme used for the GLE and I am grateful for the LSRC to give me the opportunity for developing the scheme. The LSRC 6301 is the former CITX 3062 and the first of at least three SD40-2s that will get this paint. Following the 6-axle painting, work will commence next on the grey GP40-2s and proceed to the remainder of the fleet - obviously leaving units blue already alone until in need of paint or significant repairs. (Reminder to folks - this shot was taken with permission of the LSRC and with appropriate safety briefings - I am asked to remind everyone not to trespass on the LSRC property). For what it is worth, the unit is currently being used mainly at night on the Saginaw - Flint turn.
