The inaugural running of the new unit crude oil trains between Chicago, IL and Yorktown, VA began on Thursday, December 5th as BNSF handed the 106 loads over to CSX for the trek across the B&O to Fostoria and the C&O south to Russell, KY. Pictured here on December 6th, a trio of C40-8W's lead eastbound CSX K080 over Alleghany grade at C&O's WS Cabin on the former C&O Alleghany Subdivision mainline from Hinton to Clifton Forge. The unit crude oil trains are being routed via the C&O for efficient access to the Yorktown oil facility. At the peak of their operation, up to four daily trains can be expected.
