Remarks & Notes

Phase III E8 before its famous CR and PRR life. The diesel power off an inbound NEC train from Boston has just cut off and is rolling SB. The 499 is one of 5 E8's rebuilt with HEP by Amtrak in 1975. This might be the only E8 to get Phase III paint. The 499 is the former PRR 5711A, PC 4311, AMTK 317. It went on to become Conrail 4021 for use on the Conrail OCS and is currently restored to its PRR heritage for Bennett Levin's Juniata Terminal.
