Cumberland, MD 7/9/2012 - Passing underneath the B&O's Mountain Subdivision mainline to Grafton, WV, a pair of Western Maryland six-axle EMD's are on the Number Two Secondary track of the former WM Connellsville Subdivision. SD-40 7471 was delivered to the WM in black and gold livery in 1968, and continued wearing those colors until the Chessie System era in the 1980s, while the trailing unit, SD-35 7436, got a splash of red, white, and black in the early 1970s. They were purchased by the Georges Creek Railway in 2012 and restored to their WM colors using original WM stencils from the Hagerstown shops and recreated artwork to match the precise details of their original schemes. Note the different elevations of the track. The higher track was the original grade of this line; the lower track a regrading of the Number One Secondary for clearance under the B&O when TOFC cars began to run on WM's Alphajets from the midwest.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
