Remarks & Notes
In May 1961 a westbound Southern Pacific (T&NO) train derailed on the Colorado River bridge between Winchester and West Point, Texas, on T&NO's DALSA main line between Hearne and Flatonia, Texas. This was T&NO's main line between Dallas and San Antonio. The derailment destroyed two through truss bridges, plunging both into the river. Many cars were derailed. Derailment cause is unknown. Note the Texas & New Orleans bulldozers.
