Amtrak train #14, the northbound Coast Starlight, prepares to load at Los Angeles Union Station before departing for Seattle, Washington, on August 17th, 2013. P42DC 156, painted in the carrier's original paint scheme (as part of Amtrak's 40th Anniversary celebration) is on the point, followed by Dash 8-32BWH 510. (Curiously, these are the same locomotives that teamed up on a special back in 2010 ... Click HERE to see a photo from that trip.)
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
