Building a photo freight. With only hand signals, a WW&F Brakeman directs his engine crew to bring the evening photo freight to the platform at Sheepscot Station, during the museum's Annual Picnic. The running of a Saturday evening photo freight has become a tradition at the summer event and tonight's special features a rather unique and heavy train. Someone had recently donated several large and heavy pieces of machinery to the museum and for tonight's train, the crew has secured them to a pair of flat cars. The machine closest to the Brakeman is used for rolling steel boiler sheets. I'm told that one of the units on the second flat is used for riveting inside a boiler shell. These items had to be lifted onto the flats with a heavy backhoe. Shortly, a small group of photographers will board Caboose 320 and the freight will proceed north to Alna Center siding. There, Engine 10 will run around the train, couple to the flats and then back the train to each of the chosen photo spots. On this particular evening, the weather proved to be perfect and a good time was had by all who stuck around to witness the event.
