Caboose 320 is fairly typical of cabooses that were used on Maine's 2-ft. railroads. They were built like box cars and often had sliding cargo doors, just like box cars. The distinguishing feature of course, is the cupola on the roof. Two-foot cabooses often had some baggage/freight space, as well as seats that could, on occasion, accommodate passengers. Although the 320 is not a historic piece...meaning it never ran on the original WW&F back in the day, the museum considers it an original piece of rolling stock, rather than a replica. That's because the original WW&F did have drawings and plans for this caboose, but never actually built it before going out of business. When the museum took those plans and actually built the car a few years back, they were simply completing a project that the original line never quite finished.
