Remarks & Notes

Some real South African electric locomotive history in this line up standing in a disused South African Railway Goods Shed in Ladysmith. From right to left - Class 1E E25 (only two of the original 172 built still around) - built by the Swiss Locomotive Machine Works and entered service in 1923, Class ES Electric Shunter E518 - entered service in 1951, Class 6E1 E1559 (fire damage) and Class 35 Diesel 35-438 (bent frame - scrapped).
