Remarks & Notes
Spotlight on an American Standard. The Wilmington & Western's Alco #98 busts out of the shadows on Creek Road for an oh-so-brief, rods-down photo op, as she heads toward Hockessin with her Independence Day Fireworks Train.

Although the light is sweet at 7:30 PM on the 4th of July, finding open spots for a lit photo of a train running in the rural Northeastern US at that time of day can be difficult task. Here, right along a country road, just a couple of hundred yards west of Bridge 11A, there's a nicely lit spot just large enough for this little beauty and her tender to fit. If you don't capture the right instant, one end of the loco or the other is going to be in shadow. Folks often wonder why one would need a camera with a 10 fps burst rate. This is a great example of where the shot would be a total gamble without it.
