North to Hockessin. The Wilmington & Western's 1909-vintage Alco #98 steps brisky across the Lancaster Pike in Wooddale, on her way north to Hockessin with the Independence Day Fireworks Train.
The 98 has undergone some recent upgrades, including a newly rebuilt tender tank. The folks at the railroad have also been busy with the paint brushes. Note the pin-striping on her drivers. With this recent detailing, she looks just a bit like the Pennsy 1223 in the museum at Strasburg. The engine crew indicated to me that there is some additional detailing to be done both on the drivers and on the lead truck. When they're done, this already sharp-looking locomotive should look mighty spiffy indeed!
