Remarks & Notes

A short remnant of the meter-gauge Ferrocarril Transandino, which once ran over the Andes between Chile and Argentina, lives on under FEPASA. Although the steeper rack-and-pinion segments further into the mountains have been left to nature with only a slight hope of restoration, the segment from Los Andes up to Rio Blanco still sees trains of copper concentrate several times daily.
