Remarks & Notes
On July 12, 2013 at 8:56 p.m., UP's CLRSV9-11 coal empty glides east approaching the state highway 202 overpass at Garfield. In the background along the Oquirrh Mountains is Kennecott Copper Corporation's smelter complex featuring a 1,215 ft. smokestack. Completed in 1974, the stack has a diameter of 120 feet, it is the tallest free-standing structure west of the Mississippi River, the fourth tallest smokestack in the world and the thirty-third tallest free-standing structure on Earth. The train will recrew at Roper Yard and proceed east on the Provo Subdivision to Helper for eventual reloading at Savage.
