Remarks & Notes
Stewartstown's GE 44-ton switcher - on loan to Steam Into History - sits bathed in sunlight while waiting for "the York" to arrive. The diesel is used to pull the train past the junction after the steam engine uncouples and backs into the spur. The 4-4-0 is then able to pull forward back onto the main and then back up and couple with the opposite end of the train - now leading forward. The Stewartstown Railroad itself was built in 1885 and is 7.4 miles long. It connects to the Northern Central at New Freedom.
