| As SU99 crosses Limecrest Road the train will be swinging onto the connecting track that was built between the former NYS&W and Lehigh & Hudson River main lines in the mid-1980s. This connection was installed at the advent of the "stack-pack" era on the Susquehanna and has served the railroad well ever since. The former NYS&W main west of Sparta Junction toward Hainesburg Junction was removed from service in the early 1960s. The area around Sparta Jct. has experienced a resurgence and is home to a several customers who get regular rail service. |
