An SP eastbound roars through the deep cut where tunnel 6 once was as a westbound Santa Fe pig train recedes in the distance. The photographer is in the midst of a race with an eastbound SP 10,000-ton coal train now roaring through Caliente, far below. The photographer's goal is to make it to the east end of Cliff--on foot--before the coal train gets there.
