Traffic jam on Logan Hill: A gloomy winter sunrise finds the three tracks at the summit of Logan Hill jammed with coal trains, while a BNSF load in the distance drops down towards Bill. The Orin Sub was a complete disaster this day as BNSF attempted to cut over new dispatching software in spectacularly miserable fashion; nothing seemed to work, and trains would periodically creep from one signal to the next like a gridlocked rush hour. The poor dispatcher had no qualms griping about the situation over the radio with frustrated crews. Subballast grading for the fourth main track that would be constructed a couple years later is visible in the foreground.
