Remarks & Notes
For the first time in over 30 years, a Penn Central engine (NS 1073) rolls by the house that Penn Central built. In 1968 the then new Penn Central spent $30 million modernizing and expanding the Alfred E. Perlman Yard in Selkirk. As part of this expansion the Selkirk Diesel Shop in the background was built. The NS Penn Central heritage is the trail unit on this CSX loaded oil train bound for the Port of Albany. The train is headed for its parking spot to wait for it's unloading window at the Port. Its cool, damp, and generally miserable, perfect weather for a Penn Central encounter.
