Remarks & Notes
Wandering in Travel Town, there is one gem after another. Here is Union Pacific No. 4439 which was built in 1918 by the Union Pacific itself. It's cylinders are 21" x 26", it's drivers are 51" and it weighs 78 tons. During the early portion of its career, No. 4439 worked in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later it was brought to the Los Angeles Harbor Belt line until the Air Pollution Control Board shut it down in 1957. U.P. No. 4439 was the last steam locomotive to have the served in the greater Los Angeles area.
