| These signals came online in 1976 with the expansion of mining at the Thunderbird South pit of what was then called Eveleth Mines (now United taconite). The signals went dark when the pit ceased operation in October 1992 and all mining activity went to the Thunderbird North pit which is still operating today. On this night at 2030 the signals are illuminated from the headlights of IC 6263 leading a pellet train from Minntac to Two Harbors. |
