Traveling at over 150 mph, an Acela Express leaves nothing but it's streak and a series of blue sparks dancing on the unimproved catenary wire while running a series of high speed test runs on the NEC. The tests were conducted in preparation for 160 mph service expected in 2017. Princeton Junction is the location of the North American Speed record (for a non-experimental train) set by the UA Turbo Train at 170.8 in 1967.
