As the daily Hamlet-New Orleans run-through train approached Saugahatchee Road, two ladies pulled onto the crossing and, upon seeing the train, came to a full stop. They looked at each other for a couple of seconds, then the driver began struggling to put the car into reverse. They backed off the track with seconds to spare. I am sure everyone involved will quake at the memory of that close encounter for the rest of their lives. I know I will.
