The Royal Forest Of Dean once had an extensive railway system,serving the many coal mines and local communities.Sadly,all that is left is the Parkend to Lydney line,run by the Dean Forest Preservation Group.Here,class 31 loco 31466 heads away from Parkend station with a service,closely watched by the crossing keeper.This loco was delivered new to British Railways (as D5533) in June 1959,and stayed in main line service until being withdrawn in February 2001.
