Remarks & Notes

Two workers watch intently as Loram rail grinder no. RG302 makes a pass on a curved section of track on the BNSF in Algoma, Idaho (near Sandpoint). Note the spare grinding wheels hung up on the side and on top of the machine. I suppose grinding with snow on the ground prevents fires along the tracks, especially in forest fire-prone areas such as this.
