Remarks & Notes
Due to a fatal automobile accident involving Rio Grande's Midvale Tramp in West Jordan, the D&RGW sought ways to increase the train's visibility. SD9 #5310 was modified to include a oscillating Gyralite and horizontal twin beam headlights as a remedy. The 5310 had a kind of 'Southern Pacific' flair to it, waiting a call to serve parked at Roper Yard in South Salt Lake. Oddly enough, the 5310 would be retired from service on the 'Tramp' and hauled away to Denver within weeks of the visibility retrofit.

Do you ever get the feeling as a model railroader, that you just might be creating something not "prototypical?" Same here.
