Remarks & Notes
Another record crowd turned out for the 2012 edition of the WW&F Museum's annual Victorian Christmas event. With gloomy skies prevailing and rain showers turning to snow squalls, it would have been easy to predict that the museum's recent string of attendance records would finally come to an end, but the hardy folks from coastal Maine did not disappoint and the platform was crowded early. With the lines to ride the train often spilling out into the street, the WW&F crews turned the trains as quickly as humanly possible. In this scene, a steam-powered train from Alna Center comes to the platform at Sheepscot Station. In the distance, Diesel Locomotive #52 stands by to take the main and couple to the end of this train. Shortly, Forney #10 will cut off, and after a quick exchange of passengers, the train will once again head north, bringing yet another load of folks to their meeting with Santa Claus in Alna Center. At day's end, the slim-gauge trains had transported over 1100 patrons, which represents a 10% increase over the previous year. Victorian Christmas is fast becoming a tradition, not just for Mainers, but from all over New England.
