Remarks & Notes
Available information offers conflicting views about the original railroad that owned this engine but purportedly it was built in August 1952 as an EMD GP7 unit for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Railroad Company. The engine was later modified to a GP7U and served as a roster member with the Georgia Southwestern Railroad (#2185) and the Virginia Southern Railroad (#2185). Today, it serves as a symbol of the past at the Crewe Railroad Museum in Crewe, VA and was painted as a replica to honor the Norfolk & Western Railway Company. December 2012.
