A KXHR weekend switcher crew works the scrap yard at a North Knoxville steel mill during a light drizzle bringing inbound loaded scrap cars to supply the mill. KXHR 2391 was originally a high nose L&N GP9 as delivered in 1952 and was the Gulf & Ohio's first diesel engine purchased when the railroad was founded in 1985. Since then 2391 has spent time on the majority of the G&O owned short lines and most recently was leased for power on the Hiwassee River Railroad near Etowah, TN.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
